There’s been plenty of excitement for the first three installments of the popular Informers movies in the form of trailers and a teaser.
The newest installment, The Informers: Informers 2: The Untold Story, is out this weekend, and it looks like the franchise has been tapped to produce the next two installments.
The film will follow the adventures of a pair of young women in Los Angeles who discover that a vaccine containing the human coronavirus (COVID-19) has been released and the pandemic is upon us.
They go on a road trip, find themselves stranded on an alien world, and eventually find themselves on a planet of genetically engineered humans.
The films also star a number of familiar faces, including Paul Giamatti, Tom Cruise, and Matt Damon, with the first installment featuring an all-star cast of Tom Cruise and Amy Adams, alongside Jason Segel, Jessica Chastain, and Emma Stone.
It’s unclear how many episodes of the series there will be, but it’s been confirmed that there will probably be a total of six, with five of them focused on the original four.
It seems likely that the series will take place during the pandemics, which has been one of the more popular topics of conversation on social media and in the gaming community, so this is going to be a pretty big deal.
There are a number potential sequel possibilities, but the most likely one is that the new movie will explore the events of the original film and the possible impact the new coronaviruses may have on humanity.
We have our own speculation here, and as we previously reported, the franchise was originally set to be released in the spring of 2021, but Paramount decided to delay the release until the fall of 2022, which was a bit of a disappointment.
It will be interesting to see if there are any changes to that schedule in the new film, but there’s always the possibility that the franchise will be renewed for another film at some point in the future.
